About me.

I live in New York and love every minute of it. I am an opera singer and I am an advocate/ambassador for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). My favorite thing to do in NY is to people watch on the subway train because I never have to look directly at them because there are reflections everywhere, whether it is the windows or the plastic casing that the posters are in. Everybody has a story.

I have always been an old soul and I was definitely born in the wrong time. Personally, I would love to have grown up in the 50′s, at least for the style and music.

My old soul has always been drawn to older people in general. While I was in my undergraduate program working my work study office job, instead of hanging out with the sorority girls and talking about drinking (Arizona State University was the #1 party school in the U.S. at the time), I was hanging out with the 75 year old Romanian lady that worked in the office, talking about her life. Yeah, that is me.

The truth is that I have always believed that you learn the most by talking to older people. You can learn from their good and bad choices before you make them. Unfortunately, before you realize that you are not going to be 21 forever, you tend to still make them.

I spend a lot of time working on becoming a better singer and person because I believe that you can not hide who you are when you are singing, it is all out there, no matter how good you are at acting.

I have learned that because I spend so much energy on my music, I needed to fulfill other parts of my soul and that is why I turned to advocating for the mentally ill through NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). I have a strong connection with that organization because my older sister is schizophrenic and I feel like I am giving her a voice as well. It is nice to have a balance between these 2 worlds.

I am grateful to have a strong support system of close friends, family and a wonderful fiance, Jacob, that have all inspired me to really get out there. YES, life is too short. I figured that creating a blog where I can just be myself is a great way to start. I want to be able to write about mental illness as well as anything else that comes to my mind.

I am excited to start this blog and to get my voice and Daniela’s voice out there.

I hope you enjoy, thank you.
