Block the Negative

Categories: Featured, Inspirational, Life

Ok.

If I am telling somebody something that is a beautiful day and they are quick to tell me about how too bad there is dog poop everywhere in the street…well, that annoys me.

I have always tried to be positive with everything and I have learned that in order to do that I have to keep only the positive people closest to me. I do not like to hang out with people that talk bad about people all day to make themselves feel better, people that will find the negativity in a cute baby laughing, the people that want to put you down in passive aggressive ways to make themselves feel better/smarter (sorry, people know you are doing it, you are not that smart) or FAKE people.

I know that they are all out there because I see it every day. I choose not to hang out with them for a reason because I need all the positive I can get to succeed in life. I also know that I can be positive for so many people and happily watch them succeed.

If anybody has watched the movie The Secret, they know what I am talking about. I have NO idea why people feel that there is not enough success out there for everybody. The only reason it does not work out like that is because people think if that person is successful then I cannot be successful. WRONG. You can do anything that you want but you have to WORK. Laziness is not an option. Dreams are nothing but words until you put action to them and the most successful people worked their asses off to get where they are.

BUT the key is to surround yourself with people that are positive and especially be positive yourself.

I am not always super cheery but my close friends know that I am always trying to lift them and Jacob knows that I do the same thing for him (and he does the same for me).

I really feel that if you lift people they will lift you as well. I am not talking about the energy suckers that yearn for you to lift them DAY after DAY and never give ANYTHING back….those you have to steer away from. See, the key is to support people but not walk them the whole way. I have learned the HARD way on that one.

I once helped a woman fix her apartment for 3 months. Temp work was slow and I spent almost from 9AM-5PM, many of those days filling HOLES in her wall, painting and cleaning a mess that had been accumulated for MANY years. Why did I do this you ask? Well, I felt bad for her because her husband had passed away (after awhile I could tell that she did not love him very much) and I wanted to make her apartment beautiful again.

Well, eventually I realized that I was being used and that she was not a tidy person (to say the least)and so started to distance myself from her. I ran into her one day on the street and she said, “It is so hard to keep things clean in my apartment without you, I need someone to help me decide on what to throw away.” I smiled and said that she has to do that on her own (no more leaving me to work as you smoke in your bedroom). I realized at that moment, my niceness was viewed as being her maid. I actually did not help her AT ALL.

I am telling you this story to prevent you from being sucked into the sob stories out there…

No matter what, be positive(by creating a positive surrounding), lift others but steer free from those that will bring you down.

And if you see poop on the street on a sunny day, go around, poop does not have the power to stop the sun!
